No AR-15s raffled at the Carroll County Ag Center
The Issue
The Carroll County Agriculture Center is hosting a gun raffle this Saturday, April 1, less than a week after another military-weapon mass murder at a school in our hurting nation. It is the worst kind of April Fool's joke that the venue, which hosts many events for children is willing to include an AR-15 (5.56) in its raffle, thus actually potentially endangering children by putting another AR-15 into circulation. Several citizens expressed their concerns this week but the center deleted comment after comment on social media. Phones have been on voice mail. Vendors of the event "aren't taking calls" about this matter.
Kids' right to stay alive needs to matter more than casual access to military-style firearms. There is no reason for this gun to be raffled and The Ag Center is asked to reconsider, thus affirming their commitment to gun sense, to the community that supports the center, and, especially, to the community's children.
