My dog was in critical condition when we took him to a 24 hour emergency.  They gave us an estimate and said the minimum deposit of $5,000 had to be paid upfront before treatment could begin.  We have pet insurance but it has to be processed so you must pay upfront.  We were able to scrape the money together.  That was the minimum estimated cost though.  Unfortunately,  my little baby died anyway.  I can’t imagine turning away a living creature based on money.  I think we need a policy that this is not ethical.  Maybe requiring every owner to carry pet insurance that would be paid directly to the vet.
