Over the past 2 years there have been movements to restore passenger rail service to the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. There are a wide variety of options available, and this petition will hopefully get the Raritan Valley Line restored to Philipsburg, as it has not run to Philipsburg since 1983 when the line was cut back to High Bridge. Intercity rail via Amtrak has been proposed to restore passenger rail service to Allentown as part of their long term plan for expansion. For that I have created a separate petition from this one, as this petition focuses primarily on improving service on the NJ Transit Raritan Valley Line by not just expanding service, but also renovating stations for wheelchair accessibility and electrifying the line possibly as far west as Raritan, the weekend terminus of the line as well as construction of a yard at High Bridge, the western terminus of the line for limited weekday trains. This petition I wrote proposes an Amtrak train route between New York City and Harrisburg with intermediate stops at Lebanon, Reading, and Allentown. You can view and sign the petition here.
