The Issue

Originally introduced A3883 by Vincent Prieto (D-32nd District NJ) was declined twice by the Assembly.  This law would allow nursing home residents the right to install surveillance equipment in their rooms.  Provided advance  and public notice are posted with legal consent.

On the heels of all the recently disturbing news events surrounding nursing homes, we are seeing a major lack of healthcare workers to the ratio of tenants.  We see it on the news read it on social media that employees are caught neglecting, raping, sexually and verbally abusing residents and the list goes on.

Our loved ones are left helpless and unable to communicate with their families other than periodical visits.  The purpose of this bill would provide families an opportunity to check in on their loved ones 24/7. Deterring neglect and other criminal behavior. It provides security and a peace of mind. We need this legislation passed for the safety of our loved ones.  There are only 8 states that passed this law, Ohio the most recent.  Let's make New Jersey the next one on the list.

This is loving memory of my mother Josephine.  You can figure out the rest.
