THANK YOU for your ongoing support in ensuring the safety of our Niskayuna schools. On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Altaris, a third-party safety and security consulting firm hired by the school district, recommended the addition of School Resource Officers (SROs) to our schools. Their suggestion was to have "ideally one SRO in each building." This recommendation was part of a broader set of 70+ enhanced safety measures for the school district that Altaris presented in their report. (See links below for more details).
The Board of Education (BOE) has not yet made a decision to implement these changes. One of the videos below features parents advocating for SROs as far back as 2018. Please take a moment to watch these videos—they provide more context than the written articles. We cannot afford to go another day, let alone another 6 years without an SRO!

Include all three email addresses above. Also, mark your calendar for the next BOE meeting Tuesday, October 8 at 6pm. We encourage speakers to advocate for an immediate action plan.
