You’re receiving this email because you signed a petition supporting SROs in Nisky Schools. We remain committed to our advocacy for a SRO program. As you may have heard, the district has hired a third-party consultant to provide feedback on safety (the Superintendent recently noted that the study will include a review of documentation, a one-day visit to walk through our buildings, and a report of their findings). The District has said that the specific details for what the consultant will perform as part of the study and the consultant’s final report will be confidential (not shared with the general public). We’d like to note that while SRO programs are an added layer of safety, they are so much more (as you can read about in the petition). Attached is a map showing the surrounding Districts that have successfully implemented SROs for years (the map and list of schools is becoming so large that it won't fit in the image box)! Note that SRO programs have become the standard in most Districts, yet Niskayuna continues to show reluctance in implementing a program. We ask that you continue to show your support in additional ways. It’s very important that the District hears from its community members. Here are some ways you can help:
1) Send this petition to your Nisky neighbors and friends to increase signatures. (If you know someone who isn’t familiar with QR codes, please help them to sign).
2) Speak at a BOE meeting (the next one is 6/11 @ 6pm at VA, or consider speaking in the fall).
3) Attend a BOE meeting to show support. Some supporters will be speaking on 6/11.
4) E-mail Superintendent Mummenthey and the Board of Education requesting that they implement a SRO program.

5) Set up a meeting with the Superintendent or a BOE member to share input.
