Mercedes Rose for Rosalina! started this petition to Nintendo

Who is Rosalina? Rosalina is the protector of protector of cosmos. She is the adopted mother of the Lumas. She debuted in Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii back in 2007. She is created by Yoshiaki Koizumi. Rosalina is often considered a fan-favorite character thanks to her design, development and backstory.

In the games Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Mario Kart Wii, Rosalina's voice was provided by Mercedes Rose.

Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, Mario Golf: World Tour, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Mario Sports Superstars, Mario Tennis Aces and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Rosalina's voice work is done by Kerri Kane.

Rosalina's current voice is now provided by Laura Faye Smith. She has voiced her in the following games: Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Mario Party 10, Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition, Super Mario Maker, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Mario Party: Star Rush, Mario Sports Superstars, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Party: The Top 100, Mario Tennis Aces, Super Mario Party and Mario Kart Tour.

Rosalina's personality back in the Galaxy series was sure something else. It made her stood out from the rest of the chirpy, happy-go-lucky cast of characters. She is kind, mature and very wise. Her character is said to be calm and reserved as well as her voice being monotone.

Mercedes portrayal of Rosalina is a perfect fit. Kerri does the job just as well as Mercedes did... however, the same cannot be said about Laura Faye Smith.

Take a listen to all three of Rosalina's voices if you'd like to do so.

In Both Ears is the exact same agency Rosalina's original voice actress was represented by. The agency contacted Smith, obtaining her an audition for the voice of Rosalina.

Laura Faye Smith sounds absolutely nothing like Rosalina. Smith possesses a gorgeous voice but it is heavily out of character for her. She "recognizes Rosalina's personality is heavily shaped by the loss of her mother" yet her portrayals sound nothing like it at all! It feels as if she didn't actually listen to Rosalina's previous portrayal nor took the time to read her storybook or do her research on the character.

Rosalina sounds very girly, chirpy and high pitched these days compared to her previous voices. We would like Mercedes Rose to voice her again. Her portrayal made Rosalina stand out as Rosalina had a deeper voice compared to Peach and Daisy and her voice would echo. Rosalina means a lot to us as a character and she deserves better, not granting her the reputation of a "blue Peach", forgetting her backstory and destroying what made Rosalina unique and different.

Mercedes was replaced without a reason at ALL. Kerri had to move unfortunately and couldn't keep her role. Now, we've been stuck with Laura as Rosalina for the past nearly six years now. We would like Mercedes back as Rosalina, if not, we would prefer it if Rosalina got a brand new, FITTING voice. It's somewhat unfair that Peach gets a nice, FITTING voice replacement while keeping her feminine, girly personality but the same can't be said when it comes to Rosalina.

Please share and sign this petition! Let your voices be HEARD about this. Give Mercedes Rose another chance to be our cosmic guardian! We're sick and tired of companies making silly voice decisions and destroying our favorite fictional characters!

Even if you aren't an Nintendo nor a Rosalina fan, please at least try to spread the word about this. We would like Rosalina, the TRUE Rosalina to make her grand star return once and for all. Please Nintendo, please prove the others wrong and listen to your fans.

We want Rosalina back in character and to STAY in character!
