#NeverLoseHope - Isaac from Golden Sun for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The Issue

At it's core, this is a petition for fans of Nintendo, Super Smash Bros, lovers of gaming, and, most of all, fans of Golden Sun. If that's you, then read on.

On January 21st, 1999, Nintendo struck gold with the unexpected "smash" hit, Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64. The prospect of Nintendo legends sharing the same screen together was a dream come true, and the series has cemented itself as one of the greatest franchises to grace Nintendo's consoles.

A couple years later, on August 1st, 2001, Nintendo added a phenomenal RPG franchise to it's stable: Golden Sun. For all of us that have played, we have been amazed, entranced, and delighted with the characters, gameplay, story, and world. It stands out as one of Nintendo's best franchises and a must-play for any Nintendo enthusiast.

The marriage of these two worlds has always seemed like a matter of time for Nintendo fans everywhere. For many, the character we feel would represent the franchise would be Isaac. He meets all of the qualifications - incredible moveset potential, a unique series, and an extremely large fan base. We all have figured it was only a matter of time before he joined. However, as Smash Bros. has continued to grow and thrive, with the next installment releasing on December 7th, 2018, Golden Sun hasn't seen an installment since 2010. In Nintendo's pantheon, it seems like the latter is all but forgotten. We felt that if there was any hope, it would come from Smash Bros.

And so we have waited, patiently. We were excited in Brawl when Isaac was an assist trophy and confused when he was completely absent in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U.We came in droves to the Smash Bros Ballot in 2015 and showed our support in every online poll. Most recently, we have been very active in our desires for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In most unofficial polls and conversations, Isaac consistently ranks among the top 3 fighters desired for the fighting serires. Yet here we are in 2018, 17 years later, and we just found out in the 11th hour that he has been brought back to be an assist trophy.

The purpose of this petition is not to sling mud at Nintendo, Sora Ltd., Camelot Software Planning, or any other party affiliated with the aforementioned franchises. Their hard work and the memories they have create are deeply appreciated. This is not a massive complaint from a bunch of insatiable fans. We understand that not everyone can be pleased when making complex products for a variety of consumers.

The purpose of this petition is to try one more time to let the greatest gaming company in the world know how much we love, appreciate, and care about the Golden Sun franchise. It's a chance to put numbers behind Isaac (or Felix or Matthew, really) to show them how much we want him in the game. Because I fear, as do many fans of the franchise, that if he and his series aren't represented as DLC in this game, then one of Nintendo's most beloved franchises may be doomed forever.

He deserves to see the sun again. The character and the franchise have so much potential, and so many of us don't want to see that go to waste. I have not given up hope for our Golden Boy. Have you?
