As you can see here in this Deviation, I listed the stages that some of the familiar franchises could’ve had in Ultimate, most of which are based off games released between Smash 4 and Ultimate. Some of these missed Oppurtunities may have better luck in Future Installments, depending on what these franchises get up to between Ultimate and the next game. Ken’s stage for one should definitely be featured in the Smash Bros. franchise at some point in time, for the love of the fact that Ken himself is now a Smash Bros. Fighter alongside Ryu.
As for DLC it’s beginning to seem like they’ll only be based off the DLC Fighters, most of which could be franchises represented with a Fighter for the first time. Did Woolly World have to be amongst the stages not returning in Ultimate? It just had to be in Smash 4 even before Yoshi’s long awaited comeback on having his Own Adventure on home consoles released, now Yoshi is without anything from a quite recent game of his in Ultimate, of which will be even more so the case if it’s true that Ultimate’s DLC Stages will only be based off the offered DLC Fighters.
