While the addition of Joker in Smash as DLC is something some people found quite pleasant, we still don't have fan-favorites such as Geno, Banjo and Kazooie, Shantae, Rayman, and so on. We also can't expect them to arrive anytime soon due to Nintendo deciding the DLC fighters and Reggie saying that they are all going to be characters from games that have not been introduced to Smash yet, and sure, it might not be Nintendo's fault that these characters aren't in yet, but the request for them is way too high for the third-party companies not to notice and add them to Smash.

So, to fix the huge fan-cry for these characters, Nintendo should start a ballot just like the one for Smash Wii U/3DS and wait for the votes to come in for a period of time. Once the voting is done, Nintendo should look at the top 5 most requested (realizable) characters (may or may not include characters that are already assist trophies) and make a separate Fighters Pass out of them (2nd Fighters Pass, Fan-decided Fighters Pass, something like that). I would gladly pay more than 25$ to play as some of my most requested characters.
