Splatoon feels empty without them. Before they were discontinued, Splatoon felt imersive and atmospheric. With miiverse gone, and splatfests over, the game feels empty and baren. Before, the lobby felt like you were walking on real ground excited for a game. Now, it just feels like a lobby.

As for splatoon 2, it makes sense why a sequel would want to be made. Improving on the original. But two splatoon games for the same console is absurd. It's an online game centered around the idea of turf wars. There is no reason to make a third game, unless it's dlc. The only thing nintendo wants is money. They want you to pay for a third game that is exactly the same as the first two.
