2 years ago, in May of 2014, Glu was taking GameSpy's multiplayer servers down, causing Nintendo to make a decision about there WiFi connection service in regards to games that were played online on the Wii and DS. Nintendo decided to permanently shut down the service, not pay for any new servers, and no longer allow the large community of players to continue online. This is especially important in regards to the massive online fan base that the video game "Mario Kart Wii" had prior to the shutdown. Even up to the day of the shutdown, MANY people continued to race online. There is a significant amount of people who experienced online multiplayer for the first time with this game who grew a passion to play all 6 years that the Nintendo WFC was active. Nintendo, there is a fanbase that wants to come back to the game to race on the Nintendo WFC again; to have those irreplaceable moments that only people who played Mario Kart Wii online before it shutdown will understand. The sequel games, Mario Kart 7 for the 3DS and Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U, have online, though lack the spark, thrill, and variety that Mario Kart Wii had on the WFC. Whether it be the music, the tracks, the racing, the course voting, the tournaments, or the VR points, nothing can compare to the Nintendo WFC and Mario Kart Wii. Nintendo, we beg of you, please bring back the online for Mario Kart Wii.
