Miiverse is a discontinued network service that used Mii characters to bring players together.

“Players can share their gameplay experiences with the world with text and handwritten messages, read comments about titles that they're interested in and find other players who like the same games as you.” - Nintendo

When Miiverse shut down it was a huge disappointment to all of it’s users. One of Nintendo’s reason for shutting it down was the inappropriate language and material that users were posting. They could’ve fixed that easily by adding a filter or block for certain words and/or phrases. 

Nintendo is possibly releasing Miiverse for the Nintendo Switch, but that hasn’t been fully confirmed yet. Also, what about the 3DS community? WiiU Community? Those who don’t have Switches won’t have access to Miiverse!

Another reason Nintendo put out was that users were shifting to social networking services. No way, do you know how much attention Nintendo will get for bring back Miiverse? A whole lot!
