Long Live the Nintendo 3DS started this petition to Nintendo

With the release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U in 2014, the Nintendo 3DS was a great addition to the many ways of playing the game. Forgot to bring a controller or don't have one at all? No problem. You could use your handheld console as one with the full Super Smash Bros. for 3DS game or a separate "Smash Controller" app.

Now, with the 3DS still being supported in 2018 and the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate just around the corner, there's no better way to use it than as a controller.

I know what you're thinking. How could the Nintendo 3DS run such a graphically intensive game with over 50 characters on hardware from 2011 and 2015? Well, since displaying gameplay on the 3DS's screen was not necessary when connecting to the Wii U, the same can be said for the Switch. Please release another controller app or an update to the existing "Smash Controller" for the 3DS and if possible, a concurring update for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS to include controller support for Smash Ultimate. Following these additions, an update will have to be released for Smash Ultimate itself to include 3DS controller support.

The Nintendo 3DS has had a long lifespan with many critically acclaimed games. If Nintendo wants to keep supporting the 3DS, allowing it to be used as a controller will certainly help. You can't miss out on making this handheld compatible with Smash Ultimate and furthering its lasting legacy.
