It is a wakeup call

It is a blessing

It is a call to action

To date over 42,000 have signed The online PCOS Petition!!!

I have been a pcos patient, educator and advocate for over 22 years but, PCOS has impacted my life and my health for decades, which is why I am grateful to each person who has signed, shared stories and ask for a commitment from our healthcare professionals, legislators and government agencies to invest in research, education and awareness for the 1 in 5 worldwide affected by PCOS.

I am frustrated that the burden of hope, health, comprehension and awareness falls mostly on the patient leaving many to Google or join a Facebook group to find care options and answers, which we all know is no replacement for an informed and compassionate healthcare provider.

Patients deserve better diagnosis and treatment options throughout our lifespan, not just for the purposes of reproduction. Patients like my daughter who is now 20 and has dealt with so much mental and physical trauma related to PCOS since her early teens.

With the patients' lived experiences and needs being the central guide to research, together we can greatly reduce the incidence of health risks as a result of complications from PCOS.

Rather than Concentrating on distractions such as name changes or language that describes pcos as a condition of reproductive age women, this is an opportunity to build on the awareness momentum, to truly defining what pcos is and its impacts on a patients health.

Now is the  time to invest in saving the lives and improving the quality of life of PCOS patients.

I am hoping to see actionable change within my lifetime and hope that my own daughter does not have to suffer like I have.

Let's get to 50,000 signatures and I will once again hand deliver this Petition and your messages to Congress in the spring for PCOS Advocacy Day!!!!
