Voters in Nigeria has been facing  a democratic deficit in the electoral process with the current vote buying and selling, election rigging and many other electoral malpractices that doesn't respect the choice of the people.

Nigeria will be having a general election come 2023 and even some states and LGAs (Local Government Areas) will be having theirs from 2021-2022.

Nigerians need these elections to be free and fair for them to participate as voters and for Nigeria as a "positive agreement" to come true.

We want the Electoral Act Ammendement Bill to include the following:

1. INEC Head: He/she should be voted by a simple majority of all the registered political parties for optimum neutrality to partisan politics or favouritism.
2. Electronic voting process: The voting accreditation, voting and collation of votes and publishing of votes should be done electronically at each polling station at the end of the Election day.
3. Diaspora voting: We want Nigerians abroad to be able to register for voter's card and they should also be able to vote at their closest Nigerian embassy abroad.
4. Finance Monitor: We want INEC to be enabled to set a campaign budget benchmark for all political parties ant to request for their budget statements before the election day.
5. Electoral Security: We want INEC to establish a department that should police the polling stations before and on election day to enable voter turn out. Officials from this department should be in charge of security at the polling stations.
6. Conclusiveness: No election should be declared inconclusive except signed by the polling agent, all party agents present there and witnesses/voters registered at that polling station and this can only be in extreme cases.
7. Election Justice: Any political party, candidate,party agent or INEC official found to have done any form of  electoral malpractice will be barred from that election and the next elections by an Election Petition Tribunal constituted by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
8. The Supreme Court of Nigeria should be enabled to constitute the Election Petition Tribunals which can declare the legality of any election justly/impartially/neutrally/lovingly.
9. Issuance of benchmarks on nomination and declaration of interest forms to promote political-inclusiveness among Nigerian youths, women, the less privileged; so they can serve in Nigeria politics.

This is why we petition the Nigerian National Assembly to pass the Electoral Amendment Bill along with the above listed items before the end of the year 2021 ; we also petition President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the bill before the end of the year 2021 to enable INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission).

The Electoral Act Ammendment Bill  will enable Nigeria to have a sanitized and sensitized electoral space; a step towards rebuilding Nigeria for all of us.
