It wasn’t until I started sharing someone’s petition to get top footballer, Kurt Zouma, prosecuted for abusing his cat (the act went viral as it had been videoed), that I found out that they eat cats and dogs in Nigeria - I’d naively thought it was ‘just’ in China and Korea. 

Warning: upsetting descriptions at the end of this paragraph. On Zouma’s official Facebook page, a couple of Nigerian men commented to me that cats and dogs were eaten there, described how they tasted and shared horrifying images of cooked cats and dogs and a crucified cat.

Sickened and haunted by this encounter, I wanted to do something to raise awareness of the fact they eat cats and dogs in Nigeria, and have added Ghana as I found they do the same there, and want to see this practice banned.

I have not included the pictures I saw on Facebook as I found them extremely upsetting and don’t want to distress anyone else by adding them.
