Since the Appointment of the Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, Alhaji Garba Abubakar Esq, the quality of services rendered by the commission has reduced drastically leaving service providers and customers crying out for help.

Before the appointment of Alhaji Abubakar, Services at the CAC were easier and available, but upon appointment, Alhaji Abubakar dismantled all the works of his predecessors in office aimed at easing business registration and regularization in Nigeria and heavily monetized the registration and regularization of business in Nigeria. A search at the CAC which used to cost 500 Naira, now cost 5000 to 50000 Naira, depending on the category of search being conducted. The cost of Registration and regularization of businesses have also gone up by more than 200% since the appointment of Alhaji Abubakar.

Furthermore, notwithstanding the unprecedented and prohibitive rise in the cost of services at the commission, since the appointment of Alhaji Abubakar, the commission have treated customers with disdain and contempt. Services paid for at the commission are not rendered for months leaving customers stranded.

Nigerian Corporate Service practicing Lawyers and members of the Nigeriasn Bar Association are the most affected by this incompetence of Alhaji Abubakar. Many Lawyers have suffered the wrath of their clients because of the incompetence of Alhaji Abubakar. Many Lawyers have been rendered jobless as clients no longer trust lawyers to render efficient services to them through the CAC.

Lawyers have protested at the CAC headquarters in Abuja but instead of improving service delivery, the lawyers were marked and punished with de-accreditation of their firms by Alhaji Abubakar.

This petition is a move by Lawyers advocacy group, REFORM MANDATE, requesting the SACK of the inefficient and incompetent, Alhaji Garba Abubakar as Registrar General of the CAC in other to restore Commission to the rightful part of progressive growth before his appointment.

This we believe will restore the confidence of everyone (Both Domestic and International) that Nigeria is committed to improving the ease of doing business.
