We heard the announcement on Sunday 18th April 2021, that six Premier League clubs will be looking to join the “European Super League”. This is a direct threat to football in England, the history of the game is at risk. We have a brilliant football pyramid in this country and this idea will completely destroy it. The fans in this country, who pay their money following their team all over place, deserve better, this isn’t considering them at all and is purely designed to keep the rich rich and take any chance of glory away from the smaller clubs. Historic rivalries dead, lower league clubs discarded and any dreams for the young football fan of seeing his team playing at the grandest stadiums around Europe gone.

The Premier League has the greatest following around the world and if the six clubs who are planning on playing in the European super league are prevented from doing so then the idea will appear less appealing to the other clubs around Europe

It has been announced during a pandemic when fans aren’t allowed in stadiums as they know the backlash from the announcement would’ve been severe had fans been allowed to attend games, so we need to be able to protest in another way, hopefully this petition will display the public feeling.

This needs to be stopped for the sake of the game and as the country which created football, we need to stand up and be the ones to stop it.
