Let’s get rid of cervical cancer once and for all!
It’s preventable and shouldn’t exist. 

Smear tests are at an all time low and no one should miss this. Too many woman are embarrassed/don’t have time and in result don’t get tested or go for smear tests. We all live busy life’s now and this should be made simple for woman in their own home, in their own time. With a very simple tried and tested swab. I’m not for one saying we should be smear testing at home that would be impossible, it’s a small simple swap that many woman would have already completed successfully for other medial reasons. The hpv swap would work along side smear testing and gyno doctors to catch the hpv virus before it turns cancerous. 

Our current program for smear testing has been changed from every 3 years to every 5 years in Scotland. Dumfries & Galloway have successfully completed a pilot scheme were uptake increased and the test was found to be simple and completed accurately. Our current program is NOT suffice because woman are still getting that diagnosis and not one other woman should have to lose their life to this preventable cancer.

Bring home testing kits to Scotland to make testing simple, easy and convenient to work along side gyno doctors and smear tests to enhance the program and overall increase uptake.

If a test is found to be abnormal then we can get  treatment sooner going. This will save lives. 

The Scottish Government should be protecting woman against cervical cancer. 

The wait time for some GP surgeries is too long with delays on getting the smear test program back up and running still with covid backlogs.

The swab tests will be posted to women or given out by a GP to increase take-up of screening for the Human Papillomavirus Virus (HPV), which can lead to cervical cancer

No one should have to go through cervical cancer it’s preventable if we have the right program in place. No one should even have to go through the harsh cancer treatment this is preventable if caught early why are we not implementing a system to support that ?
