Save Scotland's Railways

Save Scotland's Railways

We are opposed to plans to cut services and staff on Scotland's railways.
Abellio are currently consulting over cutting 300 train services a day, even though they will stop running ScotRail in April 2022. This is the last thing commuters returning to the office need. We need enough trains, with enough seats, running reliably to open Scotland up safely after the pandemic.
The Docherty report, commissioned by ScotRail, recommends using the pandemic as a cover to cut jobs - especially ticket office staff. This would make travelling harder for passengers with disabilities who need assistance on and off the train. Railways are safer when stations are staffed - CCTV isn't enough to stop anti social behaviour or attacks on women.
Climate Change puts everyone at risk. For Scotland to reach its Net Zero targets we need to get people out of cars and onto clean green trains. That means NO cuts to services and NO cuts to railway staff so we can all travel safely, on time, and as "greenly" as possible.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Transport Secretary Michael Matheson need to tell Abellio "no." We need our rail services, we need our railway staff, we need a green economy, It's time to Save Scotland's railways.
