The government's proposed plans to turn every school in England into an academy is a travesty against the British educational system. At a time when half of teachers working in Britain today are considering leaving the profession, taking all schools and turning them into academies seems like a blatant assault on the education system. When the academy system was started, it was intended for schools that were going into special measures - not every single school in the country. Coupled that with the lack of teachers that are going into the profession and 85% of academy chains under performing, how can the government expect to make the school system better? By charging pupils to wear uniforms and taking schools away from local authorities so there is no greater accountability? This is not the way forward - let's make the Prime Minister realise this by sending him this petition.
