This is a petition for Nickelodeon to bring back shows that represent black families. Shows like “My Brother and Me”, “Cousin Skeeter”, “Kenan and Kel”, and “Gullah Gullah Island”. Let’s not forget “Little Bill”. These shows had FULL black families and predominantly black casts. These shows gave black children positive representation of black families. These shows also taught lessons and morals. A question I have is: why did Nickelodeon stop making these type of shows?

Here’s another idea, how about creating spinoffs with some of your black cartoon characters? Susie from “Rugrats” had a whole family. Let’s create a spin-off show about Susie Carmichael’s family! Same with Gerald from “Hey Arnold!”.

Growing up watching shows with a predominantly black cast was the best thing for me as a child. I saw myself and my family in those shows. I saw positive role models. 

Nickelodeon has been posting a lot of “Black Lives Matter” posts on social media. If Black lives truly matter to Nickelodeon, let’s give children positive representation of black families like you use to. Is posting “Black Lives Matter” things just a trend or is Nickelodeon willing to show us that black lives truly matter?

There are plenty of shows on Nickelodeon with predominantly white casts. There are also some with a mixture. There is even LGBTQ representation on Nickelodeon. Please bring back shows that have two parent, black, wholesome households.
