Help kids to celebrate Asian culture by airing Ni Hao Kai Lan episodes on Nick Jr.
The Issue
There have recently been a rise in Anti-Asian Hate Crimes. There have been a lot of protests to "Stop with Anti-Asian Violence!" It is totally unfair that Asians are being treated this way and I found a strategy where kids can enjoy a show that supports the Asian culture. And who'd better to help make kids laugh and support the Chinese then Kai Lan herself? The show has been cancelled since 2011, Kai Lan games or video clips are strangely not on the Nick Jr. website anymore, and the show has been very hard to find to watch for some time ever since it has been taken off air. Kai Lan is Asian too and what a great way to support Asian during this time than by getting her back on air and more accessible to kids everywhere. The main goal is to have Kai Lan's original made episodes air on Nick Jr. again and here's why.
It respects the Chinese Culture: It may not be surprising that kids who are younger may be unaware about what's going on in today's society. But if we put a family friendly show on Nick Jr. that stars an Asian girl, the show will probably be a hit and as a bonus, they can maybe try speaking Chinese with Kai Lan like Dora The Explorer. This is also the first ever Nick jr. show that was Asian themed. There is absolutely nothing racist about the show, and Kai Lan is a great role model for sticking up for your friends.
It will support the cast members that are Asian: Not only does it support Asians in general, but it may also support Karen Chau who is Asian too. Karen created the show. It would also support Jade-Lianna Peters (the voice of Kai Lan) who is Asian as well. I'm sure they are probably aware about what's going on with the Asian Hate Crimes and kids supporting the show once again during these difficult times could probably make them feel better.
There was a very expensive lawsuit claiming that the show was similar to Dora the Explorer. Unfortunately, Kai Lan was cancelled and will not be making any more new episodes. But it will give awareness to Asian communities if the episodes from Season 1 and 2 air once again on TV. I'm sure that the kids will love the show and they will be introduced to an Asian culture while supporting Asians, and Asian actors. Kids will also love Kai Lan because it is a fun show and she is a great role model! If kids and adults support the Asian cultures during these hate crime times, then it would probably make people's hearts feel "super happy!"
