Maroon 5 shall rue the day they teased us!!!!

Sponge gang rise up

All seriousness. The fact that maroon 5 went so far as to even tease spongebob on their twitter, as if they were practicing for it, is shady as heck. This is not an action that should be rewarded, its manipulative and sadistic(whether they intended it that way or not).

You may think to yourself, why get worked up over a cartoon, man? Grow up

While that's a good argument, you have to consider this first; Stephen hillenburg, creator of spongebob, created something truly special. He created a show that many people, much like myself, enjoy and appreciate. He showed me how powerful the art of comedy/making others laugh was.

I say this because this is a person who fell victim to ALS, and passed away last year in November. A death that impacted many of us, some to the point of making a petition for Spongebob to show up, as well as play a song from the episode Band Geeks", in the halftime show in honor of Stephen's death. The fact that maroon 5 would go so far to manipulate fans in such a way is quite shady. Maybe you're asking yourself, how is it even shady? They showed spongebob as requested.

While true, this is not accurate, as they teased it in such a way, as if implying they would play the song... On top of the fact, they could've just ignored it all together and not teased it(which quite frankly at this point is preferable to what happened). The fact they addressed the petition, but did not play the song at all, is very manipulative at it's core, and, again, shouldnt be rewarded.

I apologize for the lengthy petition over a cartoon not being properly represented at a super bowl halftime show, but as someone who owes a lot of his childhood to this show, I'm quite insulted.

Thank you for your attention
