This petition is in support of the City of North Mankato’s bonding request for $10.5 million in state funds to complete capital replacements and upgrades to the Caswell Park softball/soccer complex and to expand Caswell Park’s local, regional, and statewide benefit by constructing, furnishing, and equipping an indoor fieldhouse. The latter project will be located on property owned by the City of North Mankato immediately adjacent to Caswell Park.

This facility will provide a home for indoor sports that does not exist today and provide a   venue open to all citizens of our community and the surrounding area. The construction of a field house also responds to regional planning efforts. Caswell stands as a regional and statewide asset and an international attraction, and this new facility will ensure Caswell’s ability to do so year-round. This facility will also provide more opportunities for children in the area, such as community programming, more leagues and clinics for multiple sports, and activities offered for families of all income groups. The North Mankato and Mankato regional area is lacking spaces like this facility, and this field house will satisfy area business leaders, sports groups and the general public’s needs.
