Aaron S. Acree Memorial Dog Park

The Issue

On October 11, 2018 our community tragically lost Summersville City police officer, Aaron Acree. As we approach the one year anniversary of his death, it is our family’s wish that a dog park be dedicated in his honor.

In discussions over the past year, most agree that the Nicholas County Veterans Memorial Park would be the most suitable location to put the proposed park.

A park board meeting this Thursday, September 19, 2019, at which our family plans to attend and ask the park board for permission to dedicate a portion of land and to be able begin the process of fundraising for the endeavor.

We need your help! We have a little less than four days to show the park board the community support for this project!

Aaron had passion for so much in his life, but animals, especially dogs, gave him so much joy. He had often talked with me about his hope to pursue creating a dog park for the Summersville community so that we may take our dog to play. Moreover, a year later our family and those close to Aaron are still struggling to heal from the pain his absence left behind. It is our hope to make his life continue impacting our community in a positive way as it did when he was alive.

Please sign our petition, and come to the park board meeting on September 19, 2019 at 7PM at the Nicholas County Veterans Memorial Park so that we may continue Aaron’s legacy by creating positive change in our community 102 ways!
