The Issue

Today my sister and her family tragically lost their beautiful, loving and crazy cat. He was sadly hit by a car and this was obviously an accident however the person who hit him just left him at the side of the road, he had severe trauma to his face and he was left on a main school route. As the driver left him at the side of the road someone else picked him up and they had to endure seeing the trauma left by the car when they shouldn't have had to see that, that could have been a kid and they would have been scarred for life if they had seen him. Ive read so many stories about this happening, whether it's because people simply don't care about cats or whether it's because it isn't a legal requirement to stop and report it we'll never know but no one should have to suffer seeing an animal like that whilst walking up the street. Accidents happen but it's morally right to stop, the driver wouldn't have known if he was still alive or not but they left him there anyway. If you harm a cat then leave it to suffer that's illegal so why isn't it illegal to drive away after hitting one with a car? The vet mentioned to me today that there's been so many petitions and so far unsuccessful but why give up? It should be law and we're the only people who can fight to change it!
