Belfast has just over 2 miles of designated cycleways, lagging similar sized cities across Europe. The pop-up cycleway on Dublin Road was a welcome boost for Healthcare workers commuting safely, healthily and sustainably.

With a few minor tweaks this cycleway can be a permanent feature in our city, to improve the way we live, the way we work, they we get to work.

Turning the space back into space for cars, or more precisely 43 on-street parking bays, is poor value for money, bad for business, bad for congestion, bad for the city, bad for the planet.

So, a simple plea to the Minister and her Department. Keep it. Build on its success. Improve it. Let it be a positive thing to come out of the COVID pandemic.
