Pokémon GO, the game which swept the world by storm three summers ago is as strong as ever. In fact with all the neat new features Niantic has added over the last year and a half, player’s who long ago gave up on the game are trickling back in and bringing new players with them.

One of the arguably coolest features is Trading. This allows you to trade with practically any Trainer as long as you are 100 meters or less from one another, adding onto that comes Lucky Pokémon which you are randomly granted through Trading, and then to round it all off you now even have the chance to reach Lucky Friends status which guarantees your very next trade to be Lucky! What could possibly be wrong with that? I’ll tell you...

International Friends. That’s right, those people you met at events and exchanged friend codes, reached out to on social media platforms to increase trade distances for your medals, those close friends who have moved far away where Pokémon GO has become a tool you use to interact , challenge, and simply keep up with one another. Once you go through the 4+ month process of reaching Best Friends status you can now become Lucky Friends and never have the game legal opportunity to complete this special trade. 

We, your Pokémon GO Community would like to see this resolved. We can already battle our Ultra and Best Friends no matter where they are in the world. The same should hold true for Best Friends who are awarded a Lucky Friend status with each other. This shouldn’t even be that great of an effort to make happen, because as stated we are already connected to complete battles. It could be implemented along the same lines where the player sends a request to trade for a specific Pokémon to their Lucky Friend and that friend receives a pop up notification of the trade request and has the opportunity to reply with what they would like in return or deny the trade.

Please, make this happen for us Niantic!
