I have rooted every phone I've owned since 2010, and been a loyal player since launch day. I have never once used root privileges to cheat in a game, and never will. Root is for customizing your device and making it do more than it otherwise could. Year after year, I have had to deal with cowardly and lazy developers blocking root users in games I love, such as Avabel Online and Disney Tsum Tsum. I thought this game would be different, but then I hear that the latest update will block root users! Your real problem is botters using unofficial clients and tools. Any user with or without root can download a modified APK file or use any number of account-related third party tools like mapping or Pokemon modification apps due to your server side approach. Sure, a few exploits are only possible with a rooted device, but isn't that what cheating detection is for? Blocking root users is just a band-aid, and a poor one at that, designed to make it look like the game's issues are more under control than they are, and I am appalled that you are turning your back on so many users. Root and modification website XDA Developers has well over 100,000 threads in their non device specific forums alone, making it one of the biggest, not to mention oldest, Android websites out there, having started in the Windows Mobile days and followed Android since its inception. I will not stand for this. If you force me to update, I will not unroot my device for you. Root makes my device faster, prettier, easier to use, and more capable than it could ever be on stock, and no game is worth losing that. Unblock root users, or lose a significant share of your user base, along with any non-rooted friends and family we can convince to stand with us!
