Students received the Heritage Award for Youth Achievement for their efforts to secure an interpretive panel honouring Harriet Tubman's efforts to bring freedom-seekers to Canada. The panel will be located by the Whirlpool Bridge in Niagara Falls. This is the only documented crossing made by Harriet Tubman into Canada.
