This is my son Alfie at 2 years old.  Alfie is autistic and a victim of abuse.

I’m just a normal working class mother. I have four children all with their own differences. The differences between my youngest three to my oldest go beyond that of their favourite colour.

As stated on the NSPCC website  medical neglect is where “A child isn't given proper health care. This includes dental care and refusing or ignoring medical recommendations.”
 

My petition is to get parliament to do an internal investigation to the failings that consistently happen and the hands of the child and adolescent mental health services. At 13 years old my son has had to be put into an emergency placement through social care and this has been as a direct result of there not being the services available to support children with additional support needs and the lack of treatment for his deteriorating mental health. Hundreds, possibly thousands of families up and down the country have been neglected due to the lack of support, information, dedication and consistency from camhs. Children like my son shouldn’t need to attempt to take their own life or self medicate through illegal drugs, because there is not the support out there. Families shouldn’t need to live in constant fear that their child will turn up dead or in the hands of the social services because camhs are simply not interested. Children should be getting supported regardless of their postcode. Camhs have destroyed my child’s life to the point he wants to end it. I don’t want this negligence to keep on happening! No one should need to watch their child suffer with their mental health at any age. I want there to be more services that are specific to our children and not a generic one size fits all approach. Early intervention with a 7 year old is better than facing the prospect of having to bury a 13 year old! Change needs to happen now. 1 in 100 people in Scotland have ASD. If I don’t fight for my son and the children of others the authorities certainly won’t!
