Our children will become the least healthy adult population in the UK in living memory if action is not taken now.

Children are facing multiple issues around lack of physical activity, mental health issues and socio-economic and cultural inequalities. Magnified by the Covid pandemic, these limitations make it difficult for them to live their lives to their fullest potential. Research uncovers shocking truths:

-       40,000 kids start school obese

-       200,000 young people have been referred to mental health services in 3 months

-       1 in 3 children in the UK are living in poverty, including 2.2 million under-5s

At Cabinet level, there is no one to take responsibility for the health and wellbeing of children and young people and the 21st century evils that plague their future. A minister for loneliness exists but not a cabinet minister for children.

We’re demanding:

-       A cabinet minister for children be appointed immediately

-       Government must recognise that the first 1001 days of a child’s life impacts their physical and mental wellbeing for life and monies must be spent here

-       All children are given the best start in life

-       Every child deserves a voice
