Aimee Taylor started this petition to NHS and

My aim:

is to get the age of autism diagnosis lowered to at least pre-school age. No child should be left undiagnosed down to government funding!

Our children, with early intervention, would benefit 100% from an earlier diagnosis! lets act now and get these diagnosis at an early age to give every child a better chance in life!

Too many toddlers been in isolation due to the pandemic and have had little contact with the outside world. These are not lost children! They are our children. I am a mum desperate for myself and other mums to get the help and support we need for our children and ourselves.

Our personal story so far:

Just before my sons 2nd birthday I started to notice he was slightly falling behind with the milestones he should of been meeting.

I contacted his health visitor who completed his 2 year check over the phone - due to the pandemic (I have no idea how they can accurately assess by phone call). By this point my son still was not speaking any words at all and was showing most signs of autism.

The health visitor referred us to speech and language therapists which was a 7 months waiting list. 9 months later we was finally contacted with an appointment, thanks to the nursery for chasing them up. They have now referred him to “speech and language therapist that specialise in autism”. We are still waiting for an appointment from them.

I am hoping once my son have received his diagnosis he will get the support he needs, Without having to put up such a fight. The first 5 years are the most important years of their lives, moulding them into the people they will be when they are older. Why are they just being left?
