I am 16 years old and I went to the dentist on the 6th of October 2021 , I found out today that when you turn 16 you can’t have braces or teeth removed unless you pay. I’m only 16 years old and in full time college , some parents don’t get that kind of money to get me them. They are £2000-3000 or more, which is not something we or most other people can get . I feel like the for hospitals here they should also wait until we are 18 or not in education. Thinking of all of the other teens that can’t get them because of the price and have to live with the teeth they can’t change upsets me , I feel like we should be able to get the medical attention we need , we are not adults and we can’t have a full time education and also work to get this. I really need people to help me reach the nhs or the government to change this rule for the dentist, we need change!
