After the recent election I have come to the conclusion that there is no point in crying over what could have been. The best thing to do in the current situation is for people to help in any way possible and give to charity more. By this I mean, not just at Christmas but on a weekly basis and whenever they can.

One of the problems with food banks I found after working at one in London for several months in 2018 and this year is that people who use them are only entitled to 3 visits in 6 months. To me this is ridiculous. Someone who is so desperate that they have to turn to a food bank is not going to have money for food 2 weeks later.  I am not in favour of people been able to go WHENEVER they feel like it, However, the vouchers are currently issued by people in high authority jobs such as doctors, social workers and health visitors who have a wealth of knowledge in which they can use their initiative to assess whether people really need to use the food banks or not. (I can assure you everyone that i saw that walked through the door most certainly did). I would like people to sign this petition if they are in favour of allowing those in need more opportunities to use the food banks when they need them, and not been limited to the current 3 times in 6 months which for many people that use them means they have another devastating decision to make as to whether or not they feed their children now and let them go hungry next week or vice versa.

I think the least we can do when people are having to use a service such as this just to get by is allow them to not have to worry about their food usage and making what they are given last sustained lengths of time in fear they won't be able to get the help they require for another 2 months.

Please sign this petition if you want to make high demand services such as this more acceptable in society and more available for those in need. Remember, the people that use them aren't just people who are 'on benefits' - they are people who have children, people who have lost their jobs, people who are in debt due to rising livings costs and no increase in wages. 

And finally, wherever and whenever you can please donate and volunteer at the foodbanks to allow this service to continue for the millions of people that are struggling.
