Please make the job of clearing ice during games available to all people able to do the job, or require the NHL Ice Girls to wear respectable, family-appropriate clothing at all times.

The Issue

In a world in which women must fight to be respected and thought of as equal, the scantily-clad NHL Ice Girls perpetuate the idea that women are objects to be viewed for the pleasure of others or that their value is tied to how attractive they are.  This is especially offensive and unnecessary in a venue in which families are welcome and encouraged to attend, and pay to do so.  Young boys and girls (not to mention all other people in attendance) are receiving the message that ogling scantily-clad women and expecting them to act sexy during a hockey game is an acceptable practice.  This in no way promotes healthy, respectful attitudes toward women or girls, and it further encourages the idea that some women exist just for the visual pleasure of others.
