On October 27, 2020, it came to light that Mitchell Miller – a freshman defenseman from Ohio that was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL – bullied and tormented a young black boy with disabilities by the name of Isaiah Meyer-Crothers. According to classmates, Miller called Isaiah many racial slurs (such as the N word) as well as forced Isaiah to lick a candy pop that Miller had rubbed inside of a urinal. Isaiah was then tested for Hepatitis, STDs, and HIV following this horrific incident.

Miller has since made a statement saying that immaturity was a reason for his torment of Meyer-Crothers but has not personally apologized to the boy he tormented for years. With the NHL and the AZ Coyotes taking a firm stand against racism during their 2020 season, it is important that their actions follow suit. Demand that the NHL and the University of North Dakota take proper action against Miller by not allowing him to play for their organizations. There is no room for Mitchell Miller's bigotry and hate anywhere.
