NH 48 is the lifeline of Western India — don’t let it bleed!
NH 48 is the lifeline of Western India — don’t let it bleed!
The Issue
The recent white topping of National Highway 48,
spanning from Varsova Mira Road to Vapi, has resulted in dire conditions that need immediate attention. Initially, the asphalt road on this stretch was in a decent state with only a few bad patches. However, despite the pending potential for simple repairs, a decision was made to overlay the road with white topping at a staggering cost of 600 crore INR. The outcome of this project has been far from satisfactory.
The quality of the white topping is alarmingly poor, evident within just weeks of its completion. The monsoon rains have exacerbated the situation, causing the white topping to erode and potholes to form. This deterioration not only creates a hazardous driving experience but also contributes to daily traffic jams that stretch for kilometers, significantly impacting both commuters and commercial transport.
This situation poses a substantial burden on the 60,000 industries located along this stretch, leading to considerable economic losses. Delays in transport and delivery times result in not only a direct revenue loss to these industries but also negatively affect Government revenue derived from taxes and commerce facilitation.
Immediate action is required to address these concerns by conducting a thorough audit of the project to determine the deficiencies in the materials and processes used. We urge the authorities to hold the responsible contractors accountable and ensure swift commencement of repair work. Reinforcing this stretch with durable materials will help restore the road to a safe and efficient condition, minimizing future disruptions.
Sign this petition to demand accountability and timely action from the relevant authorities to mitigate further losses and improve the infrastructure's quality for all users.
