Move Super Bowl XLIX Out of Arizona
Move Super Bowl XLIX Out of Arizona
The Issue
On February 20th, 2014 the Arizona House of Representatives signed a bill, similar to the one signed by the Arizona Senate the day before, allowing individuals and businesses to actively discriminate against groups, such as those in the LGBTQ community or even of other religions, based on religious beliefs. By claiming a legal defense of putting a burden on the exercise of their religion, the State of Arizona is moving human rights and the dignity of America decades backwards. Regardless of whether or not Governor Jan Brewer signs the bill into law, Arizona is speaking with their elected officials. All are not welcome in Arizona.
The Super Bowl is an American event, and America is ready to move forward in embracing all people. The NFL Owners should take a stand and move Super Bowl XLIX out of Arizona into a state that will graciously welcome all patrons, regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, disability, age, political beliefs, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, marital status, income, familial or parental status.
