My name is Nichole Lee Adams. In 2019, I was violently assaulted by my then boyfriend, and NFL Player, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. In my case, a neighbor heard me screaming and called the police. Upon arrival, the police violently dragged me out of the home by the hood of my sweatshirt, placed me in the back of the police car, drove me to a hotel, checked me in, paid for a week and disappeared. I left the residence with none of my items (ie. cellphone, clothing, personal computer, documents, etc.), and I was never given an opportunity to make a report or statement. There is no record of my attack on file. I contacted the Kansas City Chiefs and the Hunt Family to share my story with no response. Around that same time, the team was dealing with the Tyreek Hill case. I watched her story fade away, even with all the evidence and testimony she had, and I remained silent in fear that no one would believe me. That year, the Chiefs went on to win the Super Bowl in Miami.

The Kansas City Chiefs Organization & Hunt Family have a long and extensive history & record of Domestic Violence and protecting violent players & offenders. Just to name a few KNOWN ones:
-Tyreek Hill
-Kareem Hunt
-Frank Clark
-Terrell Suggs
-Jovan Belcher
-Justin Cox

I was able to compile an 18pg spreadsheet since 2000 listing Violent Player Offenses and the results of those crimes. This will be updated with numerous more incidents within the next 30days detailing additional crimes of NFL Players since 2020.
From my research, less than 50% of those crimes resulted in a conviction, and out of those convicted, less than 20% resulted in time served. Most resulted in deferred adjudication, a $350-$500 fine, community service and/or anger management classes. All punishments deemed extremely unacceptable considering the crime and the status of the abuser. Most cases were dropped because the victim refused to testify. The NFL has an epidemic that is harmfully effecting many and sending a message to all that the NFL IS NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN & CHILDREN.
We’ve witnessed countless stories of Domestic Violence against women and children by NFL Players. The most recent headline, the sad story of Alleah Taylor who’s boyfriend, Chad Wheeler of the Seattle Seahawks, left to her die after brutally beating her. On Super Bowl Sunday 2022, Adrian Peterson was arrested, again, for beating his wife on a plane in Los Angeles. And just last week, Roger Goddell suspended Calvin Ridley for one year for gambling and the Cleveland Browns rewarded Deshaun Watson with a $230 Million Dollar Contract completely disregarding 22 pending sexual assault allegations.
It’s clear the NFL has its priorities immensely out of order, and has failed to “get it right and be part of the solution” (a statement made by Troy Vincent - VP of Football Operations on 12/2-2014) regarding Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault surrounding its players & owners.

Mr. Roger Goodell
Commissioner
National Football League
345 Park Avenue
New York, NY 10154
Dear Commissioner Goodell:
As we mark the 20th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act, we call on the NFL to institute a real zero-tolerance policy for domestic violence that will ensure that this type of violence and abuse has no place in the NFL.
We were shocked and disgusted by the images we saw this week of one of your players violently assaulting his now-wife and knocking her unconscious, and at new reports that the NFL may have received this video months ago. Tragically, this is not the only case of an NFL player allegedly assaulting a woman even within the last year.
We are deeply concerned that the NFL’s new policy, announced last month, would allow a player to commit a violent act against a woman and return after a short suspension. If you violently assault a woman, you shouldn’t get a second chance to play football in the NFL.
The NFL’s current policy sends a terrible message to players, fans and all Americans that even after committing a horrific act of violence, you can quickly be back on the field.
It is long past time for the NFL to institute a real zero-tolerance policy and send a strong message that the league will not tolerate violence against women by its players, who are role models for children across America. We hope the NFL will seize this opportunity to lead by example and demonstrate its commitment to the safety of women and families.

As Women’s History Month comes to and end, Its not too late to invoke accountability from NFL Commissioner Roger Goddell and his associates, owners, and players. Eight long years later after being requested to implement a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY and the NFL has changed none, still protecting violent offenders, and most may argue it has gotten far worse. I have attached the links to our campaign and welcome the opportunity to partner with you to provoke real change within this organization before it’s too late. It is past time as this story stems back to Jim Brown, Warren Moon, and O.J. Simpson.
Thank you for your time.

The NFL has failed to lead on the issue of domestic violence & sexual assault by its players. These heinous crimes must be taken more seriously with greater oversight & accountability. As the regular season starts, I’m demanding Commissioner Goodell take stronger action,”
