PRESERVE OLDE MASTERS (public golf course)

The Issue

Our goal is to preserve Olde Masters (public golf course) and it's serene open space, greenery, creek, and wildlife habitats from construction of more office space and apartment buildings.

Olde Masters is unique in many ways -- unlike private country club golf courses, it is not laden with herbicides or pesticides --- it is a natural splendor in a world, too quickly, becoming concrete.  It is also one of the very few public golf courses in this area.

Local families have many great memories and ongoing fun at Olde Masters -- golfing, and winter sledding.

Please don't let this natural treasure be developed.  Eight four-story apartment buildings and a 6 story office building, and 765 parking spaces (for the apartments alone), will bring with it much heavier traffic, noise pollution, glaring street lights parking lot lights all night long, damage to the creek, destruction of oxygen giving trees, and scarcity of wildlife.

In addition, there are federally protected wetlands behind Olde Masters, with protected turtles and a haven for migratory birds.  The new plans call for green carpet mini golf courses for residents of the apartments only --- to get that green carpet appearance, the soil will have to be laden with herbicides to prevent grab grass and weeds.  Those chemicals will eventually leach into the creek and wetlands. The increase of human activity in the immediate area will drive away native wildlife.

Please sign and demand that this destruction does not happen!
