It is with great pain and anguish that I write this at the same time I hope that you would take this opportunity to make a change in the world as it exists such that there is a new possibility created for our Children and the generations to come.

 Newspapers particularly offer a strong and basic medium for information and communication, due to which they have become indispensable. It is primarily used as a tool for getting news and information, advertising, marketing campaigns, entertainment, expression and criticism, art and talents, and other forms of human interaction.

 I had grown up reading as many newspapers as possible so as to enrich my General Knowledge and knowledge of current affairs, sadly today you would agree with me, when I say that iam not in a position to make available the Newspapers published today to my children for their reading.

 Today the newspapers are full of negative information, most of the stories published are relating to terrorist attacks, suicides, murders, corruption, dacoity and the like, by publishing only such stories the Newspapers are acting as a significant contributor to the raise in cynicism in the society as a whole. You might have noticed it that a lot of our behaviour and perception are influenced by the stories and images we see in the print/visual media. It may be argued that it is for the reader to possess the responsibility of filtering the information we get from it, however, our children and the youth of the country may not possess such power to make such a distinction. The children of today grow up thinking that this a natural part of life and many of them are tempted to follow the examples reflected in the newspapers.

 If the above were to continue and no corrective steps are taken as regards this negative influence of newspapers and other media, the same would result in

-       many more of such incidents happening

-       it may reach a stage that the negative way of living becomes the normal way of living.

-       children and youth would be misled into believing it to be a way of life and indulge in the above actions,

-       widespread discontent and social unrest and many many more such things

We have a duty to our children and the future generations to make a difference. Towards this end there is an immediate and effective action to be taken.

Would request you to consider the possibility of newspapers and or the other media publishing stories relating to the achievements of common man, achievements of mankind and womankind, stories of bravery, stories that inspire, positive stories that have actually happened in reality, which we could share with our children such that the mere reading of those stories would leave them touched moved and inspired to take positive action as also to remove the negativity. This would create new opportunities and possibilities for the children and youth of today thereby creating a better world resulting in a brighter and better future.

The above would require all of us to get together and prevail upon the Newspapers of the Country and media houses to make available such stories for our children to read.

There is need to let the Newspapers know that they have a direct responsibility in shaping the culture and youth of the country.

Please do sign this petition, if you want to make a positive difference on the life of your children and the society as a whole. Let the Newspapers and media houses get to know what we are looking for and expecting so that they can address it.
