Save Our Wall!!

Plans by The Southern Regional College (SRC) to expand the front of their existing campus on Patrick Street, Newry involves the removal of an historic wall built in the 1820's.

The wall previously helped home the Pig & Cattle Market on Patrick Street which operated for over 100 years. Recently the wall, running from near Monaghan Street, right down to Heaneys Funeral Home, has seperated the old Sports Centre and the college campus from the road. 

The wall, whether you've noticed it or not, has been part of the very social and commercial fabric of Newry for nearly 200 years. We the residents of Newry feel that we should be holding on to and embracing these remnants of old Newry, not destroying them.

We ask for you to take some time to sign this petition in the intention of presenting this as evidence of local resistance against the planned demolition. 

Let's continue to embrace our history, not destroy it.
