Once again Newport City Council have decided to amend the recycling scheme and introduce even more containers to sort out residents waste, (this time the red/orange bag to replace the green box for plastics/tins).

The bags, as residents of the City have already experienced are completely inadequate, they are unhygienic, with many people having a 'contaminated' sticker placed on them by the recycling collectors, animals frequently urinate on them while passing, they are flimsy and often blow away to be lost permanently and are completely inadequate as a sturdy support for the waste they're allocated for.

We call on Newport City Council to return to using bins and boxes only for recycling.  This will simplify the process and maintain interest from residents in continuing to recycle.  Frequently changing the scheme and introducing more containers (currently standing at 7) not only is a complete waste of Tax payers money but also serves to confuse residents who have not been informed of any scheme change and disenfranchise residents from engaging in the recycling scheme.

Please stop wasting Tax payers money and re-simplify the recycling scheme to bins and boxes only!
