The South Wales Argus reports that many Newport councillors are unhappy with the proposed ban. Cllr Mark Whitcutt has gone on record claiming that the current plans ensure that vulnerable people will not be criminalised. We are yet to see how the plans have been adapted to make sure this won't happen. This is encouraging news but we will keep up the pressure on Newport Council until they drop any reference to penalising rough sleepers in any future PSPO.
