Updated plans for Woolsington Hall have now been submitted to Newcastle City Council, as an addendum to the original planning application (2014/1925/01/DET).
We have been told that all financial documents relating to the enabling works and the insurance payout have been uploaded but are being treated as sensitive.
Despite major changes since the fire, it would appear the enabling development – cutting down over 1,000 trees to make way for millionaire houses – will not be affected.
The planning committee will consider the updated application on Friday 21st October 2016.
It was bad enough proposing to destroy one of Newcastle largest areas of mature woodland with the original enabling development, but now Woolsington Hall is just a gutted ruin due to the neglect of the owners, it is even more preposterous to go ahead.
This is an affront to justice. We must act now.
There are national as well as local implications if this development goes ahead.
Please contact the planning officer (lisa.clark@newcastle.gov.uk) your councillor (http://bit.ly/2e4ZwrI) your local MP (http://bit.ly/1r6Pnfa) and the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (sajid.javid.mp@parliament.uk) immediately about these outrageous proposals.
It is particularly important to ask the Secretary of State to call in this amendment on the grounds that to allow enabling development to take place for a ruin sets a dangerous precedent as it means any speculator could purchase a ruin anywhere and apply for an enabling development.
Thank you for your support.
