Newcastle City Council has suspended determination of Banks' application to mine 800,000 tonnes of coal at Dewley Hill.

Council officers have asked for clarification on how Banks will tackle issues of noise, loss of wildlife habitat, harm to Green Belt and increased levels of air pollution.

The plans will now be subject to a second round of consultation.

Thank you to everyone who has campaigned against another coal mine in Newcastle.
