In a week that has seen Dewley Hill in local and regional news, there is no better time to unite against the exploitation of the planet's resources, harm to wildlife and devastation to local communities caused by coal mining.
Another coal mine in Newcastle will compromise the health and wellbeing of local residents and bring us hurtling towards the catastrophic collapse of nature’s ecosystems.
It will significantly undermine local and national efforts to reduce carbon emissions and to halt biodiversity loss.
Join us, along with members of Defend Dewley Hill, Newcastle Green Party, Extinction Rebellion, and many others, tomorrow evening, Wednesday 3rd April, outside Newcastle Civic Centre from 5pm.
We understand a petition calling for Newcastle to declare a climate emergency will be heard by the full council, who have so far refused to hear this petition, which has been signed by almost 16,000 people.
